B-roll Remixes

Create editable video ads from a brief, saved hooks, and source footage.

Create a B-roll remix

  1. Open a project. Select Create, then B-roll remixes.
  2. Choose a template. Add your product and an optional supported benefit, or choose Custom brief to write your own instructions with at least 10 characters. Open Template guide for suggested shots and an example. Open Name this batch to add an optional name.
  3. Check the ready-clip count and preview the thumbnail sample. Use all eligible footage or Select footage to choose clips. Open Filters to exclude tags from every draft. In Select footage, you can also filter and sort the clip list. Open File name for the original name. Longer videos need analysis. Short clips from 1 second to under 4 seconds can also be used. Finished videos are excluded.
  4. Open Text and music to change the defaults. The section starts closed with No text and Auto music selected. You can write opening text, choose saved hooks, set a music style, or choose No music. Your choices stay saved when you close the section. The summary shows your current choices.
  5. Open Duration and choose 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, or 60 seconds. This sets the length of each draft. Choose 1, 3, or 5 drafts per hook.
  6. Check the total and select Create drafts. The action stays at the bottom while you set up the batch. If the button is unavailable, read the missing-input message beside it.

For saved hooks, use the Select button beside each hook in the Messaging Library. You can choose up to three hooks. The buttons work with Enter or Space. Check the character count and use Show full text to read a long hook. Edit for this draft copies the full text into Write text. Shorten it to 200 characters before creating. The saved entry stays unchanged.

Each draft uses a 9:16 canvas. Source audio is muted. The selected hook guides footage selection and appears at the start. Its display time adjusts to its length. The saved hook text is copied when the batch starts. Later library changes do not change existing drafts.

Save and reuse ad briefs

Write an ad brief, then select Save as new brief. Enter a unique name and select Save brief. The copy is shared with members of this project.

Choose a brief from Saved briefs to load its exact text. You can edit it for the current batch. To keep those edits for later, save another copy with a new name. Existing saved briefs stay unchanged.

Only the ad brief text is saved. Hooks, footage, music, animated emphasis, duration, and draft count keep their current settings when you load a brief. Brief names can have up to 80 characters. Brief text must have 10 to 2,000 characters.

Filter footage

The footage controls use the same filters as Voiceover Remixes. In Select footage, open Filters to choose campaigns, creators, locations, shoot dates, or Asset Bank tags. Search by file name. Sort by Newest, Longest, or Name.

Filters narrow the list. Select individual clips, or use Select all eligible to add matching clips up to the 200-clip limit. This action keeps clips you already selected. Use Reset search and filters when no clips match.

Exclude tags is available in both footage modes. Footage with any excluded tag is not used, including replacement footage chosen during draft creation. Changing excluded tags clears the current clip selection. Choose your clips again after this change.

Animated emphasis

Choose Write text or Saved hooks, then turn on Animated emphasis below the hook. It starts off for each new batch. Select a starter style, a saved style, or Customize. The style controls and project defaults are shared with Voiceover Remixes and Smart Variations.

The exact opening hook becomes one editable animated text graphic. It replaces the plain opening text. The full hook appears together. Its duration adjusts to its length and stays within the draft. Timing is not linked to speech. No new copy is generated. No text turns emphasis off.

The preview shows sample words and placement, not your finished draft. Save the style for this project to reuse its appearance. Existing drafts stay unchanged. If a hook cannot fit the animation format, the draft keeps its exact text as plain text and shows a review note.

Background music

Auto music chooses from up to 50 recent project music tracks that cover the full draft. Generated voiceovers are excluded. The choice uses track names and descriptions. If no track is long enough, it searches HeyGen once and imports the first full-length result. HeyGen imports use the existing active subscription requirement.

One saved track is reused across the batch. It is trimmed to the draft length, set to 50% volume, and given a 0.3-second fade-in and 0.8-second fade-out. You can change the track, volume, and fades in the editor. Fade limits use the trimmed clip length. The two fades cannot exceed that length together. Cuts are not synchronized to music beats.

If music cannot be added, the drafts still finish. Read Batch review notes and add a track in the editor. Existing drafts are not changed.

Review drafts

Open Recent batches. Select a draft poster to preview the saved video. Use Preview soundtrack to hear the full source track. Media loads only when you request a preview. Select Open editor to make changes. Screen readers announce changes to batch progress and completion. Load older batches keeps older results visible while active batches refresh. You can replace clips, change text, change music, and export in Video Editor.

Source clips shows the original clip names and source time ranges. Review clip plays that range. A Broader match note identifies a shot selected from analyzed footage as a fallback. Check that it supports your brief. These source details describe the original draft. The saved preview includes later editor changes.

The feature uses existing visual analysis and saved thumbnails. A batch can deliver fewer drafts when there is not enough suitable footage. Read Batch review notes for the cause. Incomplete visual timelines are not delivered.

If a batch stops, completed drafts remain available. Start a new batch to try again. There are no automatic retries. You can start up to 10 batches in 24 hours.
